    In the spotlight

Merative Cúram v8.2.0.0 is now available!

Support for Java 21 on Liberty for containers

Due to the Oracle announcement that support for Java 8 will end in Dec 2030, we have introduced support for Java 21 for IBM Liberty application server using IBM MQ for containerised deployments. Future releases will support additional deployment models. We continue to support Java 8 on WebSphere application server, Liberty and WebLogic. Customers can stay on Java 8 or transition to the modern java platform by choosing the appropriate version of the installer.

    Extended support for Containerization

With our 8.2 Modern Java release, we’ve expanded our container orchestration platform support beyond OpenShift to include:

    • Production support for Microsoft Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
    • Dev/Test support for Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS)

This expansion enables our clients to scale applications more efficiently, enhance system resilience, and accelerate innovation through cloud-native architectures.

    User Experience

    Accessibility – Caseworker and Clients

At Merative, we are committed to ensuring our systems meet recognized industry accessibility standards. The 8.2.0.0 release continues on this commitment with additional enhancements across numerous WCAG 2.1 criteria to improve accessibility for both clients and caseworkers.

    Improved readability

To improve readability of pages and modals in the caseworker application, the label font size was increased. Font size and weight were also increased for the shortcut menu.

Universal Access (UA) Responsive Web Application v7.8.0 - released on 18 June 2025

    • Previously, system messages were not displayed for logged-in non-linked users. Non-linked users are not yet linked to a person or a prospect person in the Cúram backend. The system messages were only being displayed for logged-in linked users. Now, a new environment variable REACT_APP_SYSTEM_MESSAGES_NON_LINKED_USER_ENABLED has been introduced. When set to true, where the visibility field is set to ‘Logged-in users’ or ‘Public and logged-in users’, system messages are displayed in the communication banner within the Citizen Engagement portal for all logged-in users, whether their account is linked or not linked to a person/prospect person in the Cúram backend. Setting the value to false means system messages are not displayed for non-linked users. By default, the value is true, meaning system messages are displayed for non-linked users.

Cúram Design System (DS) v7.8.0 - released on 18 June 2025

    • A new helpControl property has been added to the <Label /> component. This property allows developers to manage and provide their own components and behaviors to associate the help content with form inputs.

    New Courses for Cúram v8.x:

    • CUR090 – Merative Cúram for Developers (ADE) 8.X: This self-paced course provides learners with a technical understanding of the Cúram Application Development Environment (ADE). This course provides a solid grounding in the Cúram model-driven development approach and ADE. It presents an architectural overview of the Cúram application and introduces ADE features and tools for modeling, coding, building, and troubleshooting applications. During the course, learners will design and implement a simple end-to-end application using many ADE client and server features.
    • CUR091 – Merative Cúram for Developers (Customization) 8.X: This course introduces learners to the techniques that are used to customize Cúram out-of-the-box (OOTB) solutions for Cúram implementation projects. The course describes the approach for customizing OOTB applications compliantly and how to customize client and server artifacts, including source code and non-source code artifacts. The course then outlines how REST and web services are used to integrate with external applications and how custom features can be implemented using events, deferred processes, and batch processes. Finally, the course outlines the approaches for localizing, supporting, and upgrading Cúram. During the course, learners will also perform impact analysis on OOTB applications and implement compliant customizations.
