Merge goes global: Bringing enterprise imaging solutions to Puerto Rico, the UK, Latin America, and Canada

Merge Hemo expands to Puerto Rico; bringing Merge VNA to the UK and Canada; and enterprise imaging in Costa Rica.

One year ago, I wrote about the wave of momentum that Merge had been building in the imaging industry: expanding our enterprise imaging offerings through Merge Imaging Suite, making our solutions available on Microsoft Azure Marketplace, and supporting our clients in their journeys to move to the cloud at their own pace.

Since then, Merge has significantly expanded its global footprint, bringing our market-leading and award-winning medical imaging solutions to new regions, new marketplaces, and new customers. Learn more about how Merge has invested in four markets – Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom, Costa Rica, and Canada – to help transform clinical workflows and bring focus to imaging transformations outside the U.S.

Merge Hemo expands to Puerto Rico

Merge is excited to partner with Alpha Biomedical to bring Merge Hemo to Puerto Rico. This marks the first time that Merge Hemo will be made available to healthcare organizations outside of the 50 U.S. states, and is just the beginning of our expansion of Merge Hemo to markets outside the United States.

Alpha Biomedical will be the exclusive partner for Merge Hemo, making our 2025 Best in KLAS hemodynamic software available to providers across Puerto Rico.

Alpha Biomedical is an authorized reseller for modality vendors, including Ziehm, Shimadzu, and Konica, providing reseller capabilities and Diagnostic Imaging Biomedical services to the entire island of Puerto Rico. As part of the partnership, Alpha Biomedical will now be able to provide this all-encompassing hemodynamic and cath lab solution.

Merge in the UK: Partnering with HSL and SCC to bring Merge VNA overseas

We’re proud to be working with our partners at Hospital Services Limited (HSL) and SCC to bring Merge VNA to the NHS (National Health Service), private hospitals, and imaging centers across the United Kingdom. Together, HSL and Merge boast a combined 60 years of expertise in helping healthcare organizations modernize their medical imaging environments and transform their workflows, alongside SCC sterling track record of supporting more than 200 NHS organizations throughout the UK.

Merge VNA is a true vendor neutral archive, not a traditional PACS archive, helping to mitigate against cyberattacks, protect against downtime, and ultimately optimize care and patient delivery outcomes. On June 2-4, Merge will be at the UK Imaging and Oncology Congress (UKIO) event in Liverpool, with HSL and the wider AXREM UK imaging community, to showcase Merge VNA and how these capabilities as a standalone VNA bring unique value to UK healthcare providers.

Merge in Costa Rica: Enterprise imaging with SOIN

In 2023, Merge established a partnership with SOIN Soluciones Integrales (SOIN), one of the main healthcare system providers in Costa Rica, who had been charged with modernizing and consolidating the imaging environments of 50 hospitals across the country – bringing them all into a centralized technology stack including an enterprise archive, PACS, RIS, and EMR.

To tackle this problem, SOIN reached out to Merge to help spearhead an enterprise imaging project, comprised of Merge VNA and Merge Universal Viewer. This became the core of SOIN’s enterprise imaging strategy, integrating 50 hospitals’ worth of imaging data – along with a myriad of pre-existing healthcare tech solutions from each hospital – all into one system.

With a record of successful implementations, SOIN has spent the last few years undergoing the process of fully integrating Costa Rica’s hospitals into the new centralized system. After three go-lives between December 2022 and March 2023 with Merge Enterprise Imaging, clinicians and patients alike have seen improved times for patient care and better workflows, thanks to support for features like teleradiology, advanced visualization, and voice dictation. Eventually, the system is expected to manage 2.5M annual studies.

Merge in Canada: Reselling partnership with Nova Networks

Merge has partnered with Nova Networks as an approved Value-Added Reseller (VAR) to leverage their strong healthcare IT relationships throughout multiple provinces within Canada. Nova Networks will facilitate the introduction of Merge VNA to Canadian healthcare organizations so they can more easily manage, orchestrate, and secure their enterprise imaging data in a truly vendor neutral archive.

These stories are just a few examples of Merge’s growing global footprint and how we’re expanding Merge Imaging Suite solutions to help more healthcare organizations streamline their imaging workflows, empower physicians and improve patient care.

Merge solutions bring your workflows, clinicians, and patients into sharper focus for improved productivity. If you’d like to see how Merge can help you the way we’re helping organizations around the world, let’s start the conversation.
