Brown University Health, a not-for-profit health system based in Providence, Rhode Island and the largest health system in the state, has selected Merge as its enterprise imaging solutions provider. Brown Health will be deploying the Merge Imaging Suite Solution for Enterprise Imaging across their hospitals to manage, secure, store, and share medical images across the enterprise; and for clinicians to access diagnostic-quality medical images from any location, on any device, at any time.

Founded in 1994, Brown University Health is comprised of three teaching hospitals, including the nation’s first psychiatric hospital for children; three community hospitals; Rhode Island’s largest provider of community behavioral health care; and the state’s largest multi-specialty healthcare practice. Spanning over 20,000 employees, with health care sites across the state, Brown University Health is committed to delivering safe, high quality, innovative patient care and service.

“For over 30 years, Brown University Health has revolved around our core values of compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence. It’s what our physicians, hospitals, employees, and especially patients all expect from us. Our new partnership with Merge aligns with our goals to continue creating an environment where our physicians have the tools they need to care for the sick and uphold the highest standards of their professions.”

Merge Imaging Suite is designed to help imaging organizations achieve better performance by modernizing their patient care workflows and supporting their journey to cloud technologies. It is a modular system built on a cloud-native foundation. The underlying capabilities of the Enterprise Imaging Solution include Merge VNA -- a scalable, vendor neutral archive that consolidates and streamlines access to patient medical images (DICOM and non-DICOM) across all healthcare service lines and sites; and Merge Universal Viewer -- a zero-footprint, regulatory-cleared tool for care teams and patients to view those images.

“We share Brown University Health’s goals of improving interoperability, reducing data silos, and enhancing data accessibility to achieve their long-term data management strategies across the enterprise. That’s why we are excited to partner together and provide the Merge Imaging Suite solution. It will support their efforts to both improve patient care and enable their physicians to work more efficiently.”
